PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Consultation of a physiotherapist – performed to assess the overall physical and functional condition of the customer. The evaluation is performed by collecting history data, performing an analysis of posture and gait, analysis of the range of motion, assessment of muscle function (force, length, endurance), performing the analysis of motor control, assessment of body perception and awareness, as well as assessment of muscle and tendon tension. The consultation of a physiotherapist is available to anyone – children, adults, seniors, pregnant women, sports enthusiasts, professional athletes, etc.
Development of passive motion – during this procedure, the physiotherapist develops exercises aimed at the restoration of motion in the traumatised joints, which were immobile for a longer period of time. The procedure is most commonly required, for instance, in the event of elbow injury, torn anterior cruciate ligaments of the knee joints, severe bruises and even fractures of arms and legs, as well as other similar traumas.
Therapeutic exercise – improves muscle strength, increases the range of motion, improves joint stability, overall body balance and co-ordination, corrects posture and gait. During the session muscle strength exercises are performed, as well as muscle stretching exercises and techniques, soft tissue techniques and joint mobilisation, balance and co-ordination exercises. Prior to the commencement of therapeutic exercise, the customers require a consultation of a physiotherapist practising at the Sports Health Centre of the Oncology Centre of Latvia. Therapeutic exercise is available to anyone – children, adults, seniors, pregnant women, sports enthusiasts, professional athletes, etc. The sessions are conducted individually, in small closed groups or in open groups.
Therapeutic massage – improves joint and muscle metabolism, improves lymph and blood circulation, reduces muscle tension and muscle pain, as well as improves muscle length and connective tissue mobility. Massage is used for the therapy and prevention of various diseases, as well as has a positive effect on the entire body in general. In combination with other physiotherapy techniques (therapeutic exercise, physical therapy procedures, manual therapy etc.), the therapeutic effect of massage improves. Prior to the commencement of the therapeutic exercise, the customer requires the consultation of a physiotherapist practising at the Sports Health Centre of the Oncology Centre of Latvia or a referral of an attending physician (general practitioner, traumatologist, neurologist, physiotherapist). Therapeutic massage is available to anyone – children, adults, seniors, pregnant women, sports enthusiasts, professional athletes, etc.
Physical medicine procedures – they are used for the therapy and rehabilitation of various diseases and traumas.
Kinesiology taping – reduces pain, oedema, haematomas, improves microcirculation and muscle function, stabilises joints and ligaments, as well as helps correct posture. Special elastic self-adhesive tape is used during the procedure to help improve the physical condition of the body. Usually taping is selected as an auxiliary method to physiotherapy, therapeutic exercise and physical procedures. Kinesiology taping is available to anyone – children, adults, seniors, pregnant women, sports enthusiasts, professional athletes, etc.
